FinTech Connector Brings the Message to China
By Erick A Caceres Morrobel - Member of FinTech Connector / New York
As both a Co-founder of FinTech Connector and part of our global leadership team, I have been fortunate to have an inside view of our company’s rapid development and penetration into the fintech global community. It has been exciting to say the least, from assisting in the growth of our global communities, to serving as COO through our initial development stage.
A key component of the FinTech Connector story is our “global thought leadership capability,” an offering delivered by the FinTech Connector founding team as well as our global network of Community Partners.
In this article, we follow our Founder and Master Connector Angel Lorente as he travelled across China with the delegates and guests from InTeahouse to spread the Fintech message.
InTeahouse is a global innovation and investment organization with a focus on bringing thought leaders, subject matter experts, and entrepreneurs to China to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences. The March 2018 event was an organized and sponsored InTeahouse event titled “The Global Future of Fintech Summit”.
Angel was an invited speaker and a panelist at the Fintech Summit that took him and the InTeahouse group through four cities in six days. The Chinese cities visited on this whirlwind Summit were Dongguan, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and Beijing.
Angel’s message though out the Summit was about the “People Impact of Fintech Innovation”. The message he conveyed was the importance of considering the impact that financial disruption will have on millions of people around the world that work for and support financial services institutions. New technologies like blockchain, AI, Robotic Process Automation, and Cloud Computing along with the threats of Neo-Banks will hit the “heart and soul” of financial institutions. As we discuss fintech innovations, we should also discuss the people impact of that innovation to be better understand and prepare for the changing landscape of financial services in 5 to 10 years.
Here are some of Angel’s quotes and highlights from the trip:
"I arrived at my destination the Hyatt Dongguan on Sunday, March 18th after a 16-hour flight to HK and a bus shuttle to the border crossing at Shenzhen and another 1.5 hours drive from Shenzhen to Dongguan. I am finally here and excited to participate in the Future of Global FinTech Summit organized and hosted by InTeahouse." - Angel Lorente
This was the first "Fintech Master Connector Chronicle" post by our CEO Angel Lorente as he began his journey through China.
His trip began when he arrived at Dongguan on March 18th, the very next day he was on the stage of the Future of Global FinTech at the Hyatt talking about the "People Impact of FinTech Innovation" and how staying ahead of emerging disruptive technologies can allow them to remain relevant in their respective financial services fields.
The trip continued next to Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Beijing. It was a non-stop trip for six days.
“The trip through China was absolutely one of the best things I have done both professionally and personally. The opportunity to speak to rooms filled with 400 – 500 people in each city was breathtaking. More importantly, they were there to listen to me talk about Fintech innovation in the West. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!” – Angel Lorente
Angel spent a good part of his trip connecting with other like-minded professionals and entrepreneurs looking to collaborate and cultivate fintech ideas. He invited many of the people he met to join FinTech Connector and to continue connecting, collaborating, and cultivating ideas on a global scale. Furthermore, he promoted the importance of a community of people with a strong desire to make these connections with others globally for the benefit of all people.
