Sao Paulo is the financial hub of Latin America. With a population of around 12 million people and 11% of Brazil’s GDP (USD 200 billion). These numbers make Sao Paulo’s economy comparable in size to Greece, Portugal or New Zealand and one of the largest economic hubs around the globe. It is also home of BM&F Bovespa, now B3, the largest stock exchange in Latin America and one of the top 20 largest ones in the world. Besides that, Sao Paulo is also a thriving innovation hub with a growing number of startups, many of them being Fintechs. Brazil has more than 400 Fintechs, 3 of those being unicorns located in Sao Paulo – NuBank, Stone, and PagSeguro.
